We feel like we won the Midwife lottery! Tenaya was amazing to work with and was the perfect match for us. She spent a lot of time with us at our prenatal appointments and answered all of our questions which were many. Having that much time with her throughout the pregnancy allowed for a level of comfort that we never expected. This closeness and trust setup the best space for us to experience the labor process. We felt relaxed, supported and knew that no matter what happened Tenaya would make the right decisions with us to bring our sweet little baby into the world safely.

Tenaya was our midwife for the birth of our first child. Both our parents were skeptical about a homebirth, but after meeting Tenaya, they felt reassured and confident in the level of our care. During the long hours of labor, Tenaya spent time with us, playing board games and helping to sort our record collection! When there were complications during labor, Tenaya was calm and supportive and gave us information in a way that was empowering without being overwhelming. We were very grateful for the care that Tenaya provided and would happily recommend her as a midwife!

Tenaya attended the birth of our second child, a daughter, in Hawaii. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the level of care we received throughout the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. This was my first home birth and she answered my relentless questions and concerns patiently, putting me at ease well in time for the birth. On the big day, she was calm and reassuring under pressure, yet just as excited to be present as we were. I never felt alone, yet was not unnecessarily disturbed as my labor unfolded. I was so grateful to have someone understand what I needed when I could not communicate well. My daughter is now close to entering school, and I still hear from Tenaya every year on her birthday. She is a remarkable midwife and friend and I recommend her without reservation.

Giving birth was the scariest, strangest and most sublime experience of my life. Tenaya was a fantastic midwife who my husband and I have the highest regards for. Her wisdom and serene disposition were invaluable in helping me get through a long and difficult labor. While trusting the natural process, she would not have hesitated to use medical backup had it been necessary. Her style of care is a blend of natural and practical ideal in a midwife. The pre-natal care was wonderful and the postpartum care was above and beyond what we expected. Tenaya is a kind and gifted woman who helped bring our baby boy into the world. We’re so happy to have connected with her and will always be grateful for the services she provided us.
